Influenza is an acute illness of the respiratory tract caused by influenza viruses. Seasonal Influenza Vaccination (SIV) is one of the effective means in preventing influenza and its complications together with reduction in influenza-associated hospitalisation and death.

WTSDHC will arrange the following eligible Hong Kong Residents for free seasonal influenza vaccination starting 29-9-2025:

1.      Aged 50 years or above (count by year of birth)

2.      Aged 18 to 49 years (count by year of birth) Persons with chronic illness1/ Persons with physical or intellectual disability with certificate certifying the person is eligible for VSS 2025/262

Remarks:

1.      Chronic illnesses include:

  • Chronic cardiovascular (except hypertension without complications), lung, liver or kidney diseases;
  • Metabolic diseases including diabetes mellitus or obesity (Body Mass Index 30 or above);
  • Immunocompromised states related to weakened immune system due to conditions such as asplenia, Human Immunodeficiency Virus infection/ Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome or cancer/ steroid treatment; and
  • Chronic neurological conditions that can compromise respiratory functions or the handling of respiratory secretions,or increase the risk of aspiration, or those who lack the ability to take care of themselves

2.      Certificate certifying the person is eligible for VSS 2025/26 include:

  • A certificate certifying the person is a PID or eligible for VSS 2025/26 issued by a registered doctor; or
  • Registration Card for People with Disabilities (with indication of intellectual disability or mentally handicap); or
  • A certificate certifying the person is a PID or eligible for VSS 2025/26 from the designated institutions serving the PID.
  • The Disability Allowance approval letter issued by the Social Welfare Department

3. Eligible individuals aged 18 or above must register for eHealth to receive subsidised or free seasonal influenza vaccines.

Non-members can first register to become a member
